Have you seen surrogacy in the news lately? We have. Of course, we really like the articles or segments that showcase the positive aspects of this family building option for couples and individuals who have longed struggled with infertility, as well as for gay men who are utilizing this reproductive technology to have their shot at having their own biological children. We especially like when celebrities decide to honestly share their stories, such as Elizabeth Banks, who is one of the stars of the mega hit The Hunger Games, has been doing. Ms. Banks is a Massachusetts native and we are proud of her candor. When stars talk, people listen.
We also applaud the surrogate mothers who were profiled in several news accounts, as well as the husband of a surrogate mother who was featured in a recent Redbook Magazine story. Redbook has become a leader in publicizing positive stories about different aspects of infertility and family building. Bravo to them for publishing two stories in one month! This is a continuation of innovative public education on infertility issues, including sponsoring Twitter and Facebook events.
We also have included a few stories that probably will make you shed several tears, such as when a sister acted as a surrogate for her older sister who had battled breast cancer, just like their late mother had. Or the couple who had suffered from infertility for many years, finally becoming parents to not one, but three children via three different methods.
